If you have questions about the Camp Jenny application process for ADULTS, please review the “Frequently Asked Questions” below….

How old are the campers at Camp Jenny?
Camp Jenny campers are grades K-5 (ages 5-12).

Where are the campers from?
The campers who are coming to Camp Jenny are from urban Atlanta and attend F.L. Stanton Elementary School.

How much does Camp Jenny cost?
Camp Jenny is funded by money that individuals and youth groups raise during the year. Sending one camper to Camp Jenny costs approximately $550. The campers and the teen/adult volunteers do not pay to attend Camp Jenny. Teen and adult volunteers are expected to help fundraise for Camp Jenny and raise at least $200.

I’m interested in volunteering at Camp Jenny, and would like to bring my family with me. Is that possible?
The role of an adult at Camp Jenny is to support our teens. Adults need to be able to commit 100% of themselves to the NFTY teens and Camp Jenny campers at Camp Jenny. Camp Jenny is not a family camp. That being said, we recognize that some adults would be unable to volunteer if they weren’t able to bring their children with them. To that end, we have limited child care available through our Kids Club program. Please read the full Kids Club program description before deciding whether to apply.

I am an adult and want to apply to be a Camp Jenny volunteer. Where can I find the application and job descriptions?
The adult online application can be found here. The job descriptions can be found here.

Is the adult application process blind? How are decisions made?
The adult application process is not blind. Adult applications are reviewed by the URJ staff. The primary role of adults at Camp Jenny is to support our teens in running a phenomenal and safe program for the campers. Adults are chosen with that in mind. In addition, preference is given for:

  • Youth professionals currently employed at Reform synagogues in NFTY-SAR and NFTY-STR
  • Parents of current co-directors
  • Recent alumni of NFTY-SAR, NFTY-STR, and URJ Camp Coleman

I can not attend the entire event. Can I still apply?
Due to required leadership and safety training that takes place during orientation, all staff need to be at Camp Jenny for the entire event. Camp Jenny is generally unable to accommodate staff needing to arrive/depart outside of these times. If you have specific concerns, please email campjenny@urj.org.

When will I find out if I have been selected as a Camp Jenny staff member?
Camp Jenny application review weekend is in mid-January. You will be notified of your status by the end of January. Notification emails will be sent on a weekday in the afternoon (after school hours).
