Get Involved with Camp Jenny

There are two main ways to get involved with Camp Jenny. First, you can help with fundraising. In order to make Camp Jenny happen every year, we must raise $75,000. You can work with your youth group or synagogue to help plan a fundraiser, or you can reach out to your own family and friends to raise support and money. Campers are organized into groups based on grade. Unit Leaders will be responsible for leading a group of counselors (teens) and senior counselors (adults) and will serve as a resource for cabin programming and management. Unit leaders will meet their campers in advance of Camp Jenny and spend some time (virtually) with them in March, April, and May. Unit Leaders are expected to be at CJ from May 25-30, 2022.

Note: specialists may work in more than one area, depending on how many hours each area is open each day. Specialists are expected to be at CJ from May 26-30, 2022.

SITs (9th graders only)

The Staff-in-Training program is for 9th graders only, and focuses on training teens to be effective future counselors and specialists at Camp Jenny. 2021

Camp Jenny Teen Volunteer Descriptions for 2021:

IMPORTANT: Camp Jenny 2021 will look nothing like Camp Jenny has ever looked before. We have been very intentional in our planning to design a program that dovetails with the uncertain education environment we are facing and takes into account the number of students and Camp Jenny staff that will be connecting virtually this spring. This is an ongoing process that will require constant adaptation. Thus, we ask that all staff members approach Camp Jenny first and foremost with a positive attitude. Staff will need to be more flexible than usual and lead without judgment. All staff need to be respectful of one another and our program. Please remember that changes will occur, and we need our staff to be team players who bring support to one another.

Leadership Team (11th-12th graders only)

The Leadership Team of Camp Jenny 2021 will be responsible for helping with all Camp Jenny programming. Some programming may occur during the school day, and some may occur in the evenings or on the weekends. Your ability to participate during any specific time will not preclude your ability to be a part of the Leadership Team. As the program is not yet fully designed, team members will be involved in brainstorming and creating, rather than just planning and execution. Qualities include flexibility, openness, patience, and a willingness to push beyond prior ideas of what Camp Jenny has been in the past. Leadership Team members will be expected to maintain positivity and present a unified front (even if they individually do not always agree with what is being presented), and will be depended upon to engage appropriately with both peers and adults.

General Staff (10th-12th graders)

Camp Jenny 2021 General Staff Members will be composed of all teens and adults who help run Camp Jenny 2021 programming, but are not necessarily involved in all of the planning aspects of said programming. Staff members will not be required to attend every program, but will be encouraged to participate in both small and large group activities based on personal interest and availability. Some general staff members may be more focused on technical aspects of preparing and running programs. Qualities for all include flexibility, enthusiasm, and patience. Staff members should be prepared to work as a part of a team to help to bring Camp Jenny 2021 events to life.

SITs (9th graders only)

SITs will be engaging in virtual leadership training throughout the Spring Semester. The SIT Mentor(s) will lead workshops teaching about the history and evolution of Camp Jenny and the skills needed to be a successful staff member and all-around leader. SITs will also be invited to engage in Camp Jenny programming as the term progresses.
